  • old people don’t have anything to do BUT vote, and bitch and moan, and most importantly to them, reminisce. Which means they won’t actually be paying attention to current events, because they think they already know everything and can’t understand new perspectives. My inlaws have members three generations older than me, and those fucking people - one of them said that she’d never bothered updating the opinions her parents gave her because “if they were good enough for them they’re good enough for me” - I mean, they’re literally living fossils, venerating the dead and having zero understanding of anything that’s happened since September 11, the last world event worth noticing in their view.

You couldn’t get three words into a discussion of some of the concerns of the modern world without their eyes glazing over. It’s not possible for them to “get it”.

  • Shit no dawg. We’ve had loads of chances to fix it, but one half of the political divide actually wants to end the world so they can get raptured and shit cuz they only believe lies. Most of the population is just people doing what they’re supposed to and assuming others are doing the same. Apologies for not joining a radical cell and blowing shit up i guess… short of that, i mean, you can’t even talk about killing the people who need killing in any public forum let alone make a plan for it, and actually doing it would require, you know, snipers and shit, so…

I mean, you’re probably American. Y’all the ones with weapons out the wazoo. If that were useful, somebody would have paired up and done something about it by now. Obviously it’s not, which is good news, cuz it means you can put all that gung-ho rhetoric away and join the rest of us, but i mean yeesh, that was a lot of sound and fury just to signify nothing, nawm sayin?

  • Morality is not only a social construct, you have it naturally as a child and if you’ve forgotten that I am sorry - I know a lot of people don’t remember anything of their first six or seven years of life. However, you observe morality in children even if you’re not railroading them. That “natural morality” is informed and altered by the society you live in, certainly, often in compromising ways that make you less, not more, moral, but to insist that morality is entirely socially negotiated is to negate your own lived experience, which is neither objectively nor subjectively a path to truth.

As someone who lived in seven different places by the time i was five, and who experienced several events involving extreme violence during that time which left a powerful impression, and furthermore due to my experience as a father, and in spite of my education as a psychologist which daftly and without basis (though with a lot of compelling circumstantial evidence) insists otherwise, i tell you with certainty - morality is innate.
