ooh yeah, a good tooltip on mouseover would be perfect.
there is quite a bit of granularity to the options these days if you haven’t tried it in a bit. I was able to make it work more or less exactly how i wanted.

yeah, I’ve got it set to off by default. i used it almost like a spoiler tag. click the button to see the answer to “THIS AMAZING DEVICE DOES WHAT???”
the only reason Android was locked out of imessage was Apple, the only reason rcs is locked out of ios is Apple. it’s all Apple trying to keep the wall around its garden.
honestly, I always feel so much more part of the conversation here. on Reddit, unless you time it just right and browse young posts, chances are your comment will never be seen. on here you’ll be one of 50 top level comments at most. and that’s only the biggest threads. it would be nice to see more activity on more threads, but often when i comment on something with no comments it’s enough to start the conversation.
almost none of my comments here get ignored, and the conversations that come out of them feel better. unless it’s about Linux. you people are insane and unapproachable when it comes to operating systems. not because you’re wrong, you’re just… a lot.
eh, as a photographer that works weddings, any wedding without a planner is hell for me. i might actually just say no if that’s the case.
if you hire people to work it you should have a person who can be their go to while you are getting married.
if you go for an event like you describe people will be unhappy at the lack of food and leave after not long. if that’s what you want, good for you. go for it. if you want people to stick around and have a good time, you need to feed them. that’s expensive, even if you somehow make it all yourself with food from the farmers market, it’s still going to be over a thousand dollars for most people. again, unless you only invite like five people, but most people care about more than 5 people. throwing a big party of any kind isn’t cheap unless you throw a terrible party.
you don’t have to have a traditional wedding at all though. my sister got married during COVID in her backyard on video call. it was lovely. a big beautiful wedding with lots of people is also lovely and uniquely fun. just don’t let you relatives pressure you into things you don’t want. there’s where it always goes wrong.
i bet it’s honestly more more from like 4chan and other modern online racist communities. where they would mock aave with racist caricatures. agree with the rest, but if it’s related to aave then i doubt the old newspapers were the source.
it’s so funny too, Netflix was the service solution. Netflix and Spotify being good for a while there was the biggest hit to piracy since it’s inception.
oh I’m sure they actually did. if there’s one thing Republicans are good at, it’s being contrarian assholes about all climate related policy. I’m sure someone tried to poke every hole they could in this.
but you’d have to have a pretty warped understanding of emissions to think that mowing a field with sheep is even close to a lawnmower. this field needs to be mowed to keep the solar panels clear. even if these sheep weren’t eaten or used for any other purpose, this would still be a good policy. as is though, we will also be getting wool, because these sheep will die without being sheered. we will likely be getting other products too. I’m not sure if they will be eaten, but probably not. they aren’t very popular for meat here.
sheep are legitimately a very green way to mow a field when you consider alternatives. like, i guess they could use those hand push manual mowers or scythes or something, but that would mean hiring thousands of people. that may be ultimately the best thing for everyone but the billionaires that profit on it, but let’s bee realistic here. that’s not happening.
sure, but the issue of the un never getting things done or doing the wrong thing is due to the influence and stalling done by states that oppose the common good for religious reasons or personal gain. in the long run that’s what Palestine is likely to be.
so again, i don’t disagree with this move. it’s necessary, but i also Foresee more problems in the future. nothing really for it, just a prediction.
oh I’m aware, that’s why i said another.
honestly, as good as this may be in the short term, they’ve really just added one more highly Conservative religious state that will vote against the interest of the common good moving forward.
I strongly support Palestine gaining statehood and for Israel to stop fucking with them (that extends far beyond the war), but that doesn’t mean i like their ideals. i think there’s a strong chance that this will cause problems moving forward and that conservatives will use that as ammunition.
that said, this is the un finally really kinda doing its job for once. ending global conflict through diplomacy. can’t say that’s a bad thing.
IDK, the people deciding that only care about money. i bet it will replace the expensive ones first. this will probably make many things even more shitty, but it’s not like anyone’s going to replace the like 8 tech companies that do anything. even if they all suck even worse
yeah, they should’ve picked a more common artist. i thought it was a trick about knowing the lead singer of a band at first.
i mean, this story sounds like it’s from pre-release testing, or maybe a trade show demo showing a pre-release build. it not working this way in the release version just makes sense, and doesn’t mean this is a fake story.
i work in video. i have one monitor as my primary “work” space. that’s where i put my timeline, or whatever I’m working on the most in that moment. sometimes it’s color controls, sometimes it’s keyframes and effects controls.
monitor 2 is actually my best monitor. that’s the video clean feed. that’s my big color accurate monitor.
monitor 3 is bins and scopes and effects and whatever other control surfaces and monitors i might need.
You’re just changing the direction of that light with a mirror. Picture a light bulb vs a light bulb in a flashlight with that reflector dish behind it.
Walls also do this, but to a lesser extent. If your concern is wasting light then get a lamp with a reflective directional shade. You know, like the Pixar lamp.
if we count the number of people who have used products with code helped by him; we’re probably around 50% of all humanity by now. at least…
i mean, that’s the audience that needs to hear this message the most…
I’ve got a really unscientific answer that feels good in my head.
culture is so deeply ingrained and large that only two things could change it:
1: slow change from within
2: war/genocide
cults on the other hand are small enough and new enough and not deeply enough ingrained. it feels possible to defeat them in the “marketplace of ideas” as it were.
even if that’s not quite true, even if it’s not actually easier to argue can against scientology. it feels like it should be.
that’s why there’s such a difference in criticism too. because it comes down to “well what do you think should be done about it then?” it’s pretty clear that you can’t argue a person out of such a deeply rooted cultural belief.
also, it’s about who you’re criticizing in relation to yourself. a white person living in America has way more ground to stand on calling another white American out for having bad beliefs and practices. this is because you can understand where they come from and the culture around them
ultimately there is no concrete “good” and “bad”. for you to enforce your idea of that onto a people who universally agree that your “good” is actually bad then you’re the bad guy no matter how right you think you are. no matter how much your people think you’re right for what you do that’s cultural imperialism/plain old regular imperialism.
obviously a news show isn’t going to feel the same rewatching it. that’s not the point lol.
that would be like saying it’s dumb to preserve newspapers in libraries because it’s not going to feel as good rereading the “Hitler is dead” headline. people don’t look at old news to have a good time.
boy was it silly of us to preserve that kind of thing and it totally never comes in handy/s
that’s not even what people are upset about anyway. comedy Central mostly makes entertainment programming that isn’t news based and can still be enjoyed whenever. believe it or not, comedy Central has a lot of content that will stand the test of time. especially when looking at their stand-up catalogue.
this is the destruction of a library. a digital one, but a library none the less. that’s what people are mad about.
but you’re right. we should just dump all of our old movies and shows. they’re worthless moldy junk anyway… 🙄
