Yeah, I’d say so. Maybe something like “Take it easy” would fit better.

I’m currently reading through all of Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe mysteries, and one fun feature is that he almost always includes one or more very obscure words. It’s a nice little thing to look out for.
In the one I’m currently reading it’s, “peculate,” meaning to embezzle or steal money. Others include:
I had a look to see if I could find a full list but sadly not. However most Wikipedia entries for the individual novels include a section called, “The unfamiliar word,” if you want to find more.
There used to be a Scottish football ⚽ player called Kevin Twaddle. Always amused me.
Would “Have a good one” maybe serve that purpose? It’s not exactly the same, but similar sentiment.
No need, not enough people on Lemmy anyway. Plus men-only groups often degenerate into paranoid misogynistic nonsense (like going on about blue and red pills). But I’m pretty sure you knew that already. And even if not, don’t ask, set the terms for people to say no and then whine when they do.
David Lynch had apparently planned 2 further Twin Peaks films to follow from 1992’s Fire Walk With Me. Unfortunately the negative reaction that film got at the time put paid to any chance of them being made, even after the film’s fully deserved re-evaluation and recognition as one of his finest pieces of work.
Season 3 of Twin Peaks probably touched on some of the themes that perhaps would have been in those movies, but damn I’d love to see what they might have been if they’d been made right then.
Can’t help with an answer, but you could also try posting this over on [email protected], might get a bite.
Plus, nobody tells a Middle Earth eagle what to do.
Only subjectively though. I love many sports and find many others pretty boring. Fans of those would disagree, of course.
Not sure if I’d say they hit hard, but for readability it’s hard to beat Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe books. Some of the best murder mysteries I’ve ever read, so much fun.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide, you likely won’t be able to finish each of the 5 books in the trilogy in a day but it’s something you can read a hundred times and find a new witty joke somewhere
After which you can listen to the radio show, watch the TV show, play the text adventure and maybe watch the movie depending on how much more you can take :-)
My favourite example of this is in Grosse Point Blank, when the GNR cover of Live and Let Die is playing non-diagetically, right until the moment Martin walks into the store, and suddenly a cheesy muzak version of it is playing over the shop radio. It’s beautifully done :-)

Meant to say in my Nero Wolfe comment - there’s a Lemmy community for interesting words at [email protected] - it’s not very busy, but still.
