The Internet was a mistake
There’s a lot of iconic problems Apple has had with product launches in the past (attenna-gate and butterfly keyboards are some of the most obvious recent ones), but I cannot for the life of me understand how something like this slips through in 2023. They must have a thermodynamics team that helped engineer the chassis, and the SoC team must know the thermal output of their chip. Did they just not test the device?
Here I am wondering if he just asks GPTChat what to do for every business decision and follows it blindly.
Admittedly, I know little of AI. However, once companies can no longer increase profit with AI, they will use it to save costs instead. This will inevitably lead to mass layoffs, not because AI will correctly determine where to maximize revenue, but because executives don’t understand how how AI works, and they don’t understand how their employees contribute to their revenue.
I mean this is a pretty big one for most people, but march 2020 COVID lockdowns. My family and I were bunkered down like the family in the movie Signs, just trying to figure out what was going on and keeping each other safe.
I have the 660s, but you can find the 6xx’s new or used in your price range. The body is plastic, but it holds up really well. I have dropped mine about a dozen times on a hardwood floor and they look brand new. These are not pocketable though. Someone might have a better recommendation for that need/want. The 500 range does not have a detachable cable to my knowledge, but otherwise are nice headphones as well.
As an alternative to the 1000xm3’s, you can check out the Bose 700’s. I gave my pair to my other kid and she has been using hers for a long time without issues. Battery is always going to be the limiting factor for BT headphones.
That’s difficult to recommend. If wired were okay, I would say go with a pair of Sennheisers. They make replacement parts for purchase and some models have removable cables. I’ve had a set of Sony 1000m3’s that i gave to my kid and they have help up well for several years. We had to replace the pads once, and the batt doesn’t last as long as it used to, but they aren’t bad. They aren’t $200 though.
The reverse microwave. I heard you need a LOT of freon.
Since June 2023, like 90% of the users on here.
Specialized stores sometimes cost more money (sometimes they don’t). Also, the return policy and customer service is different from store-to-store. There’s a lot of convenience in having an “everything” store.
Is there an actual alternative general online store that treats its employees well and has good prices on decent products? I’m all for supporting a different online retailer over Amazon.

How am I not myself?
Only because no one has said it yet, headphones. You can get a really great set of headphones for $200 or so, but if you want it to sound a little better you’re looking at $500-$700. But music can sound a bit better if you get better equipment for around $1200. Then you hear a $2000 set-up, and you chase that, until you hear a $5000 kit. And it just keeps going.
Holy shit. If I’m mathing correctly, that’s like 12% of the entire land mass of the contiguous US.
JNCO’s
I stand by that iframes had their place, even if the backend devs absolutely hated them.
Every tenth line of code needs a comment break for a detailed ascii “drawing” of human hands
