Dunno, I just don’t believe my NixOS config files are particularly valuable. What is the benefit of sharing garbage code from a novice? I’d rather share things worth sharing, that could be useful to someone else.

I do the same thing. Anything I put on there isn’t something that I would share with the Internet anyway. If it was a serious project, sure. It’s just nice to have a personal git you can access over a VPN sometimes.

I did get to meet a sociopath once while working construction. Some of the guys at the company liked to go to music festivals, and you meet some odd folks there. Well one of the guys made friends with this dude who was down on his luck for some reason or another and he got hired on with us.
He was manipulative, but not very good at it. He would shower some people with compliments, like constantly and for pointless things. But if he didn’t think you were worth sucking up to he would absolutely refuse to do anything you asked (which he tried to do to the company second before he learned he owned part of the company). He would work slow, was on drugs frequently, and spent any money he got as soon as he could. Money he usually got a week early because he couldn’t afford food since he would spend all his money.
Anyway not long after we fired him we learned he had been in prison for sexually assulting a minor, and was back in jail for something else.
Thankfully I wasn’t important enough to get his attention, so I never got to interact with him directly.
It’s been a long time since I looked at consoles, how many games will render at 120 fps? I thought developers would try to find a balance between fps and graphical fidelity. Do games have uncapped fps now?

I’ll push forward some more, I’m just not vibing with the beginning. It’ll have to wait for Moby dick to finish tho, that’s a pretty good book.

Like a personal god who would always be there to chat and help you out, that would be nice too.

Azatoth, what dagoth ur wishes he was.

I’m having a hard time getting though the player of games. Is it good? Should I skip it for a later entry?

Okay, why do we want plastics that biodegade slower than 50 days? Why would that be useless? I agree it’s not groundbreaking, I’m not even sure if using bamboo fibers is better than the cotton fibers we used to use. A real breakthrough would be in manufacturing time, if I’m remembering correctly it’s not a fast process to make this plastic.

So how is this stuff different than the celluloid that they make pens and glasses out of? Because that stuff is pretty tough.
Also are you saying we want plastic that biodegades quicker? Like we want plastic we can compost faster than wood

Oh no! Wait I don’t watch shows anyway.

I do calligraphy. Sometimes i meet someone who knows someone who does calligraphy. But I’ve never met another person IRL that does calligraphy. And the particular style I like makes it even more rare.

I live to be a good person. Figuring out what that means is a lot of reading, reasoning, and experimentation. I’m not sure you even need to justify wanting to be a good person, but maybe it is good to do good.

I live in a pretty mountainous area, but I can think of a couple blind corners on small hills near me. So probably the one on the way to the bakery while running or biking.
But I do a lot of ski touring so I’d rather die on one of the big ones.

But I am indirectly affected greatly by overfishing and directly by the overall health of the oceans. The health of the environment directly effects me. So shouldn’t I also have some say in the health of the environment?
I think maybe I’m quibbling over word nuance.

Maybe I’ve got an odd take on it, or we’re saying the same thing. Like humans as a whole should definitely try to be more empathetic in their lives. Being more empathetic is something I’m working on a lot myself right now. i don’t think empathy is about “Feeling what someone else would feel if you were in their situation”. I say that because everyones experience of life is different, some people feel pain more than others, or social pressures, or hunger, or whatever. What I mean is that we experience the world uniquely, and empathy is coming to understand the unique experience of others. As in it’s not how I would experience their situation, but how they are experiencing their situation. And a coffee maker has no experience. But maybe I’m talking about something other than empathy

Isn’t that personification not empathy? Like you’re not understanding it’s feelings, but giving it feeling. I think it can be moral to attempt to fix the coffee maker. It also sounds emotionally exhausting (for me) to care that much about something that has no agency of it’s own.

Some friendly pushback to help me understand, overfishing doesn’t directly effect me, I don’t eat fish, I don’t live near the ocean. But I’d say it has lots of indirect effects on me. Incentive structures still promote overfishing. What do? What does force mean? Is changing the incentive structure force? Is fines for overfishing, or losing your commercial fishing license force?
(P.S. is know nothing about fishing, this is just to help frame my questions)
Maybe not technical, but teaching is weird.
If people aren’t having fun/engaged they’re not learning much. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. It’s so frustrating to come across someone who writes the standards you’re supposed to follow and they are the most boring and fake teacher you’ve experienced.
