They’re pretty insecure anyway, my current P14s Gen1 has a working fingerprint reader on Silverblue but I haven’t really used it.

I haven’t used a T14, just the E14 and the P14S.

New ish. My current Thinkpad is a P14s Gen 1 with a Ryzen 4750U 16GB of RAM, and it came with a 512GB SSD. I paid just under $300 for it on eBay and well worth the cost. I wouldn’t get anything that is still a TXXX variant anymore though (e g. T490), they simplified the product line. So T490 was replaced by the E14 Gen 1, and the P14s Gen 1 is an AMD variant.

Highly recommend. One thing worth noting though is to double check the fingerprint reader if you desire that, the E14 Gen 1 has a reader not compatible with Linux in a functional way. The P14s Gen 1 however does.

I work two jobs and have no days off but Friday is the start of not having to drive the next morning so yeah, in a way.

When I first came across that wisdom I realized my desire in a relationship was to just pour myself into the other person, basically worship them. But not for their benefit, but to distract myself from myself. It’s fairly easy to see how that goes wrong.

I’m still learning, and I’ve found even more stuff I need to work on, but either I get there or I don’t, what matters if I never stopped trying.

I found that same nugget just under a decade ago. Dropped off the dating scene to work on myself. It really made me reflect. I’m still working on myself and honestly I suspect I will be for a while to come.

My old project I got to architect the frontend ran lean at around 300KB - part of our target audience had older phones so it was designed with that in mind.

At my new job 22MB is child’s play. To be fair they might do it better with the next version.

One of the first things I did when I took over an old php project was convert to bcrypt and add logic to automatically upgrade the hash on their next login (and in case you’re wondering, we also removed the old insurance hashes and the upgrade logic after a while, forcing remaining users to do a password reset).

The Dockerfile is essentially the instructions for deploying from scratch. Sure, they most likely only exist for one distro but adapting isn’t a huge chore.

You can also clone the repo and build the container yourself. If you want to update say, log4j, and then attempt to build it, that’s still entirely possible and easier than from scratch considering the build environment is consistent.

I used Arch for AUR, but with flatpak getting more popular these last few years even the more niche stuff I had to rely on AUR for got a flatpak. So I’ve been trying out immutable distros like Fedora Kinoite.

Based on your description it sounds like you haven’t given it a fair shake. I’ll take TS over JS any day, at least there is room for improvement. I will say however I personally haven’t been unlucky enough to run into projects that abuse the any type. The worst I’ve run into is a JS library with no typings I have to manually type.

A heat gun is also inexpensive and very useful. 3M mount you need to remove (and/or reuse)? Heat gun. Sticker? Heat gun. Frazzled threads on clothes? Heat gun. No time to properly blow dry? Heat gun! (the last one is a joke, don’t do that).

Audiobooks have been a great coping mechanism for my ADHD, they’ve also made me a better driver.

For the latter, if I listen to my music I definitely feel a bit more aggressive, whereas if it’s an audiobook (and I’ve given myself sufficient room), I’m much more forgiving.

For the former, I can mix them with menial tasks and it makes them so much more doable.

While I agree with this, the one except I’ve found is Sprite. Different genetics have different tastes but I’ve found I like my Kroger generic Sprite more than the name brand.

Not sure if it counts, but a web server I took over had a checkout process that took about 10 seconds. I added a queue and offloaded everything not a required verification step and took the request down to under a second.

Licensing code is a pain and realistically you need to consult a lawyer who specializes in the area.

When I do freelance work I sell them the code and a perpetual use license that allows them to do pretty much anything outside of selling the code. If they want to own the code itself that’s extra. But I also haven’t consulted a lawyer either and I’ve only done that sort of transaction twice.
