  • That was a popular distinction maybe 20 years ago, but the line is fuzzed and functionally, the term “crossover (CUV) is dead. But, like all terms automotive, it’s just marketing.” Crossover" seemed friendlier to women to get them to drive tall cars. Now everything is classed as a [size] suv. Some classic suv examples were always unibody like the jeep Cherokee. Edit: I see now your other comment touches on offroad capability. So does a 2wd “suv” (by your definition) then get declassified? Does a body-on-frame tall wagon with viscous coupling awd get declassified?

And no (takes a deep breath to survive an emotional down vote onslaught), there is no legal difference between 4x4, 4wd, or awd. A manufacturer can choose any term to apply to any type of 4-wheel locomotion. Every definitive trait has some counter example that still counts because people “feel” it’s good enough.

  • No one thinks the system is working. The losers say it’s rigged, the winners beleive they’re lucky they won in a broken system, and the winners eventually become losers anyway. So yeah, the left wants better candidates but the shit part about being on the left, on any progressive front, is that we can’t all agree on what’s most important so we get stuck with limp, neutrally progressive candidates as an average of our interests. The right, the don’t-change or even regressive side, has it so much easier. Just vote for a crybaby that stomps his foot saying “no” to his greens. Even if they debate between Trump or Christie or Haley, whoever, they’ll still have an easier time just undoing whatever that black guy or the junkie’s dad did.

So yeah, we keep voting at the final game for the wet towel because we saw how easy it was for the other side to start ripping into democracy. We saw what happens when progressives boycott the vote because their favorite candidate didn’t win the primary. We saw what happens when half the country argues about turning left, right, staying straight, or maybe even going up while the conservatives only debate about hitting the brakes or throwing it in reverse. We don’t have ranked choice or any other better system than FPTP so here we are

  • I wish you luck. It certainly gets frustrating since the “100 meteor/hour” includes the whole sky and very faint meteors. I was at a mild suburban beach outside the metro areas (Bortle class 4/5) and saw maybe 10/ hour. That’s 1 every 6 minutes but could be 2 every 12, 3 after 18 mins, etc. Just gotta keep looking up. I tried to catch more while driving home and while taking out the trash but with much less success lol
