I really wished we got more stuff like Andor, Rogue One, and Knights of The Old Republic II that explore more of the universe outside of “here’s a bunch of themed planets with wacky CGI aliens”.
Andor and Rogue One are really good at showing what it’s like to actually be a Rebel and live in a universe being dictated by an empire, while KOTOR 2 was a really cool look at the metanarrative of the Jedi, the Sith, and the Force as a whole.
Also the Netherlands is still very much capitalistic while having much more protections for their citizens.
This isn’t a blanket “capitalism bad”, it’s the fact we allowed our country to be bought out by capitalism.
Yeah, I was trying to find something more concrete than what was showing up in Google, but I could also just be misremembering that bit.
My memory is fuzzy and Google-fu isn’t finding it, but wasn’t Neverland searched after he passed and they found lewd photos of children in his possession? I swear to god I remember reading something like that maybe a couple years after he passed.
I only recently learned that knowledge, so I’ve only started doing this - hence the “personally, I haven’t seen” comment. But I probably just haven’t read enough of their articles to get a feel for their slants if they have any.
So far though, I will say, both AP and Reuters are a hell of a lot more neutral and matter-of-fact in presenting news than any news outlet in recent years.
Reminder that major news outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and Fox just buy their stories from news agencies like Associated Press and Reuters specifically so they can adjust the stories to their agenda. This is why they are news outlets, not news agencies.
If you legitimately want news just being presented as-is, just go to the source and read it directly from the agency. I personally haven’t seen a slant when reading from either Reuters or AP.
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magicka Obscura
I’d get to laugh at every single wizard trying to board a train without it blowing up due to magic fucking up technology before I get screwed over by one of the soulless, greedy, vapid, mouth-breathing creatures known as gnomes.
But you’d be living in England and probably get stabbed by some chav’s unregistered butter knife
If you think porn and sexuality being normalized is a bad thing, you should reaaaaaaally think hard on your beliefs for a minute.
Sure, there’s the objectification of both men and women that pornography produces - that is a bad thing, but that’s not solely form porn either. Marketing ads love to objectify people (especially women) for an extra buck or two, and those are practically shoved in our faces openly every single day. Social media is basically just a gallery of this shit too if you’re just looking at whatever garbage the platform feeds you based on trends and what not.
Porn itself isn’t bad, and sexuality is arguably as important as both intellectual and emotional depth are because we’re humans and we have that primal part of our brains still. Yet in the US, for example, both of those things are worse than, say, a violent film. To me, that is the messed up part here.
Jesus, I didn’t even know it was that bad. Like I said, I don’t know how Korea is in general outside of “North bad, South good”, so I had no idea South Korea was even a dictatorship at a point.
Thanks for the very brief crash course :)
So they’re saying that the dude was praising North Korea because he wanted a united Korea that lives under Pyongang’s socialism, claiming that less people would be in debt and there’d be less suicide. Didn’t read the actual poem itself so idk if the dude was praising Kim Jeong Il or if he was just saying how cool it’d be to live under socialism.
I’m not quite sure how Korea is in general outside of “North bad, South good”, but it sort of sounds like South Korea is just practicing censorship here. Does South Korea have freedom of speech?
But LinkedIn bros and corporate people are gonna gobble it up anyways because it has the right buzzwords (including “AI”) and they can squeeze more (low quality) work from devs to brag about how many things they (the corporate owners) are doing.
Spoiler alert: This would have most likely happened regardless of the D or R next to the president’s name on the ballot.
There’s two reasons I could see the US supporting Israel regardless of who’s in charge: the logical one because it has historical precedent is that the US wants Israel as a buffer for Russia due to it’s strategic location in the Middle-East, and the other reason is more conspiracy theory but I wouldn’t be surprised if the US can somehow get access to Palestine’s oil if Israel beats the shit out of the Hamas.
So practically every major power in the world?
Thorin and Company were running with 1Hb across 3 movies while The Fellowship ran with 4Hb across 3 movies.
So we could theoretically say The Hobbit movies sucked because they were bottlenecking their performance due to not downloading having more Hb per movie.
With a military as big and armed as the US, you can absolutely argue that our binge internal politics are actually worth taking into account for these sort of things. The fact that seemingly half of the US population voted for it (whether they were actually for it, or were just voting not Democrat to “own the libs” is another conversation) is fucking terrifying.
The reason I would say that Trump is worse than Dubya is because of the potential and horrific shitshow that could happen if the US became more like Russia or China. To help put it into perspective, imagine if Putin was in charge of the US army. It’s not too crazy of a stretch to say that he would probably invade all of his small surrounding neighbors and absorb them as Russian territories or make them become part of Russia itself. Take this example a step further - he has access to the US arsenal of nukes. How long would it be until he would fire nukes at other nations and invade them?
That’s not to say Dubya is better - like I said, starting a 20-year war for oil but masking it behind “removing WMDs” and “God told me to do it”, wasting lives pointlessly for greed is fucking disgusting. But it would legitimately pale in comparison to the damage somebody like Trump being in charge of a fascist US can and would do to the world for years to come.
Bush did a hell of a lot more harm with his war on terror and basically lying about why we wanted to go to war , but Trump single-handedly paved a very dangerous road for the US to become fascist and have crony capitalism (or at least, make it much more apparent and much worse).
Dubya was an asshole politician who wasted thousands upon thousands of lives for oil - and I would still say he’s less bad than Trump because Trump wanted to make the US into something more akin to China and Russia.
