To tell you the truth, I don’t know who I am either. Somebody sincere, perhaps.
But if you ever read this one day, I hope that you are as proud of me, as I am of the person I imagined you to be.
Although the BYDs and GWMs and MGs are getting popular in Australia, I have literally never seen a Chinese EV in the States outside of locally built BYD busses, and BYD cars have distinct designs that are fairly easy to spot. So this feels like posturing to me.
It’s pretty clear to me many people here have never either had general anesthesia or talked to anyone who had, you can’t really time funny one-liners right before you pass out.
Here’s how it works:
They’ll put a mask with a rubber tube in your mouth for oxygen, and tell you to relax and count back from 10, so you start counting impatiently(it’s boring, and there is nothing else to do), wondering when the surgery is going to start.
Ten.
Nine.
Eight.
Now the anesthesiologist is in front of you, checking on you to see if you’re OK. “But I haven’t finish counting down yet, when is the surgery going to start?” You ask them.
“It’s already over”, they explain.
Then you realize you are in a completely different room, the tube is no longer in your mouth, but you feel so weak you can hardly move, and the stitches/staples around your new surgery wound is starting to itch.
It’s like a segment of your life was cut out and erased into nothingness.

Lemmy doesn’t have a collective culture. Each instance has it’s own culture or will develop it over time, even though a lot of reddit vestige remains. (It’s only been like 2 months)
I don’t think toxicity ever will get too bad here, for the simple fact that if you don’t like the say, c/politics of one instance, you are always free to go to the c/politics of another instance or even start your own.
Eventually, the toxic instances/community will bleed users and die out, defed is a factor but doesn’t have too much to do with this.

I guess the secret for a box office record is to organically promote the movie on Lemmy.

Yeah, because the best part of reddit was the human interaction, and having bots proliferate everywhere just kills that entirely.
Bots on reddit are just so universally annoying and most of them provide no value at all. Most of them should have been banned on sight anyways.
