I think that you should talk to your doctor about your concerns. My doctor prescribed a UVB light that I use for a short period every day and it seems to be helping quite a lot with my muscle pain and vitamin D levels

Bandcamp is what my bands like to use. They often have events (Bandcamp Fridays) where 100% of purchases go to the artists. Some bands also make decent money off merch sales from their own storefronts

Since day one, we have stood with the artist community against piracy, and we are actively working with our industry partners to protect creators and defend their rights.
Lmao. They protect and defend artist rights so hard they they’ve refused to pay a fair compensation, and have taken it further by promoting AI artists over actual artists. This statement is almost comical after it was reported that they’ve had copy cats to replace King Glizard and the Lizard Wizard when they pulled their albums from Spotify

Edited to remove quote, because they were banned
Wow, sexist, racist and Islamophobic all at once.
There are several women just in this thread telling you that being objectified while trying to compete in a sport is a problem. No one is saying that people can’t dress sexy when they want to, we’re saying it’s a problem when it’s forced on us and expected of us to comply

There are downsides. Not all women are beautiful, and quite a lot of us lose our beauty as we age. I can tell you first hand that aging has resulted in a significant change in how people treat me, and that alone is enough to cause social anxiety
Also, the expectation that we be beautiful or maintain our figures is oppressive as fuck. Think about how hard life is just trying to work and pay bills, then add the time and financial cost for beauty routines and gym. Some people get around that by making those two things their hobbies, but that isn’t gong to work for most people

I still sing this song when I’m torturing myself with shoe shopping lol

Wait, do they keep reusing the same username? Because I feel like I’ve been playing wack-a-mole blocking a certain user, and it makes a lot of sense that they’d just be creating new accounts constantly

Teflon and certain ceramic non-stick pans can’t handle the heat needed to sear a steak. You can look up the heat range of your pans, but generally if it isn’t cast iron or steel, it’s going to warp or degrade the coating. That means they won’t last as long.
On the other hand I’ve never had to toss a cast iron pan. Sometimes I’ve needed to scrape off seasoning and redo it, and it’s rare to ruin a cast iron pan to the point it can’t be redeemed. But I’ve just bought my first carbon steel wok because it’s much lighter than cast iron

Assuming Lemmy is still around by then, the front page will have a cat on it.

I think he doesn’t need math tutoring. He needs someone to sit with him while he does his homework, and he needs encouragement. Our education system just marches people through to graduation without giving them the chance to breathe.
But, I agree, our teachers have been struggling for decades.

I tutor high school students in math and science. They’ve all taken a budgeting class. One of my students is taking calculus and I genuinely feel he has a better understanding of it than I do!
I am glad he has the option to take calculus, he’s one that gets bored at the place other students need. But I really don’t think many students need it or can fit it in their graduation tracks.
We also need to consider how difficult algebra was for some, to the point that a lot of adults think they hate math. I like the comment in the op that Applied Calculus skills (real-world story problems) are useful, and I think that would have more impact than two-three semesters of calculus.
There are still a ton of folks who are cash only in the US. Some of it is because cards and digital transactions make it easy to track people (in the US at least). Others can’t open bank accounts for one reason or another, usually because they don’t have an address or appropriate ID. And quite a few only accept cash so they don’t have to report their income, because they are on disability or they owe money to the government.
I’m actually dealing with my last example right now. I want to hire someone, they only want cash but I live 5 hours away from them so it’s causing some difficulty. They don’t even want a check because they are so cautious about their income being tracked that way.

It can! This is one of the possible causes of endometriosis.

My physical therapists love to say “motion is lotion”, moving is what keeps our joints moving smoothly

I have two friends who recently graduated with electrical engineering degrees, and they can’t find work where they live. If you’re able to apply across the country and move, that may give you better results, but they are both now looking for jobs outside of their degree focus. One is actually doing IT for the university he earned his EE BS from, but there’s no opportunity for growth there because it’s an incredibly tiny school and community.
It’s been over a decade since I worked in tech, but experience was king. I’m earning a degree in biology now, because by the time I left Microsoft I knew how easy it would be to automate my job

As a fellow flat-footed human that prefers putting weight on one foot, you might need to get over-protonation insoles. I’ve found they really force me to put weight on both feet and they do protect your ankles as well. I have been happy with PowerStep Maxx in the past, but it’s been a couple years since I purchased new ones.
I’ve also been told by a podiatrist to get Hoka shoes, but that’s outside my price range lol
I have some Ruffwear boots that I pair with socks for my dog. I got them six years ago, so I’m not sure how the quality holds up now but I still use the boots every year in Montana. I will say I found their sizing guide to be true to size!
