Not so much broken as change of focus. Their focus now is money, and it’s hard to turn down hundreds of millions of dollars.

Ubuntu has had all three of those things. Amazon ads in the search bar was awhile back. Not sure but I assume they still hijack installing Firefox using apt and instead install it using snap. And Ubuntu Pro popups are a new thing.
What would it look like? I’d guess Amazon ads in the search bar, proprietary package managers overriding the old open package manager, and popup ads for distribution Pro?
Wait…
I’m on GNOME, but thanks for the help. Getting me to dig deeper and figure out it’s a known issue with Slack and not Wayland will help me going forward.
Looks like it’s a known bug on Slack’s end that’s known for 1.5 years but now is “actively investigated” as of 8 days ago.
It’s Slack, so Electron, and the browser version unfortunately doesn’t support Huddle calls, which is what we use for all our calls and where I’d be screen sharing from.
Thanks, I got it running under Wayland with that (xeyes doesn’t show it) but screenshare still isn’t working. That’s okay, I’ll try again next year
Can you give some details about this? I can’t find anything online about it.
I didn’t know I needed the desktop portal for my DE as well, I’ve installed that now. Between that and updating Zoom it works on Zoom now, thanks.
Edit: I just updated Zoom and it’s working now! Zoom doesn’t work at all Slack gives me one window at a time and black screens for Firefox windows. I will try both of these in the browser and see if I get anywhere.
I want to switch to get high refresh rates on my multi monitor setup. I tried recently again but I can’t for the life of me get screen sharing working, which I need for work.
Edit: With some help here and a Slack update released yesterday to fix the problem, it’s working in both Zoom and Slack!
Might need to uninstall/disable videos opening in the YouTube app but yeah this combo works great.
I haven’t seen those ads or any other since I’ve got an ad blocker
Web developer, couldn’t go without three monitors. Just three 1080p panels. Center monitor has the code editor, right has the browser, and left has the ticket or designs or the music player or Slack.
Most places other than the US. I know it’s illegal here in Canada.
As long as JavaScript is being used, TypeScript will be used. It makes writing JavaScript tolerable.
I do the opposite, I forget I can just create a file with nano. I run touch then open it with nano after to edit.
I used to do https://cardle.uk/ every once in a while but I got a bunch of British cars I didn’t recognize. I wish it told you if you guessed the manufacturer as well.
I would love to do a North America cardle with common cars mixed in with high end cars.
That’s neat, never heard of this.
But who uses that? I recall using a gnome plugin a few years ago that required an Open weather API key that you could use any location for.
