Russia also maintains a no first strike policy, unless that changed since I last got stuck in a rabbit hole about nuclear policy. The US is the only major country in the world to maintain a first strike policy with nuclear weapons that I know of.

Actually they can’t, they have a legal obligation under the UN Convention on Genocide to take extra-territorial actions in order to stop or prevent genocide. They are acting within international law. The ships going to Israel despite the active genocide are violating international law and complicit in the genocide themselves.
You don’t have to try to eradicate an entire nation to commit genocide, either. There’s a convention on this thing, you know…
I’m glad for your sake. It’s pretty gross.
No, I see those in Ukraine threads, not specifically on Lemmygrad. Actually, I see it most on lemmy world, overall. Sorry, I should’ve articulated that more clearly.
I have. I’ve still never seen it. What I do constantly see in those threads is dehumanization of Russian people and calls for mass genocide of them, though. Calling them orcs and talking about how they all deserve to die.
I don’t believe you, to be honest. One can acknowledge Russian security concerns (like multiple U.S. military officials and many high members of the UN have) without praising Putin. And I’ve still never seen a single communist say anything good about Putin. On any website.
II hear this constantly, I have yet to see it one time ever by ANY communists on ANY website.
Anti-perspirant makes the rest of my body sweat a lot more as suddenly I can’t just use my pits to cool my body.
The point is, the US has no assets on the ground, and cannot confirm or deny any intelligence from the region with any meaningful measure of certainty. They’re entirely going off of the statements of the IDF and Israeli government. Organizations which, have been shown to multiple times just in this conflict, spread false information as justification for their actions. Conversely, we do have plenty of journalists on the ground, who often contradict these intelligence briefings, and who often provide primary source documents or visual evidence of their claims.
Yeah I feel that also. That’s why I believe in democratization of the workplace. Instead of obeying the whims of a single dictator-leader or small board of directors, labor should be able to collectively decide the motivations and direction of their labor power.
With such ownership of development, instead of working for someone else’s vision, we’d be able to collectively develop and manifest a vision that isn’t predicated solely on the extraction of profit, but on the collective needs and desires of those within and without the company itself, meaning those within the community who will also be affected by the decisions of the company.
But of course, as of now, this is just the rambling dreams of one person, and not an actualized reality.
Idk, I’d be willing to overwork myself if it were for a really good cause, like ending hunger, or rapidly building houses that will be provided free at point of use to unhoused and low income people, etc. definitely not a normal job I’d do it fit though.
Well I never went to AA aside from one meeting where I felt everyone was just addicted to AA instead of Alcoholism, but I imagine some of what I know could have been learned through osmosis from others, and thus may not be as accurate as I’d like. Can you tell me which so I can update my understanding?
They say everyone has to find their own rock bottom before they can begin to heal, and for me that was true. I had to lose almost everything in my life, my friends, my home, my girlfriend… The only things I had at the end were my dog and my car and junk. You can’t really help someone, until they help themselves.
The only way to help themselves in my experience is for them to recognize that there’s no such thing as a good amount of alcoholic, and go cold turkey straight up. No weaning, no “I drink socially.” Or “I drink on weekends.” (This is dangerous and if they do so, it should be a medical detox with the proper medication and under supervision, depending how addicted they are. They can die from quitting cold Turkey without medication).
There is scientific evidence that if one is an alcoholic, the alcoholism can literally overpower even the strongest of willed individuals. But only after the first drink. That first drink is the one that fucks you. Don’t have the first drink, ever.
By tolerating the cycles of abuse and apology, you’re actively enabling them. You need to set hard boundaries. Before you get hurt badly. For your own safety, do not even exist in the same place as them while they’re drinking. If they have a drink, go to a friends or your families house, and tell them you won’t come back until they’re sober. You’re basically telling them it’s okay to cyclically abuse you if you stay.
I’m sure that the people in Syria who are being bombed and the people in Palestine who are being bombed by Israel using US dollars really care about our domestic politics as they watch their families get blown to shreds.
Trump hates Netanyahu. He’s a fascist, but even he could see that Israel had no intentions of ever peaceably resolving the conflict.
What good dude? We murder civilians in multiple countries every year regardless of who’s in power. Trump and Obama both indiscriminately murdered civilians with drone strikes, Biden expanded police funding more than any president before him. Hilary Clinton bragged and laughed about overthrowing a democratically elected government. Nearly all Dems and republicans voted in favor of expanding the military budget by billions of dollars even though we just ended a fucking war. We’re definitively the most evil country that has existed on this planet since at least the Dawn of the modern nation-state, and more blood is on the hands of Americans than any other nation on earth.
Forcing people out of their homes so that they can be occupied by Israel isn’t hitting the brakes, it’s accelerating it.
Not to people overseas. There’s no difference between being indiscriminately murdered by a Republican or a Democrat to the people dying.
Wow great info, thanks so much for doing all that legwork! It makes sense that Putin would put less stock into the policy than did his predecessors, because while the leaked Soviet archives show the USSR was genuinely terrified of nuclear war and mostly built up in response to US expansion of nuclear programs, I feel like Putin sees it more as a tool for intimidation.
