As it should be, there’s way too much reengineering of the wheel. Let the big brains of the past do the heavy lifting
My favorite is the ‘here be dragons’ ASCII art, that’s how you know you’re in for a fun time
Best thing I did was throw all my old socks away and just bought a dozen of the exact same socks. Never have to worry about sorting them or getting annoyed when one inevitably goes AWOL
Who didn’t see this coming? Kill all good third party apps and funnel everyone into their dogshit, undercooked app and then leverage every metric and interaction for advertising
Docker for example is used on the Kbin project. They’ve created a docker image that gets PHP, Posgres and all the other services needed to get up and running with the project.
Without that image you’d have to manually get everything up and running and while I’m sure some people are comfortable jumping into a new project, having a single image that does most of the legwork means you can attract developers who just want to get started right now.
This is super handy for UI/UX/Designers/concept focused people who need to get the project running locally quickly.
Never even saw that one, looks great now!
Sucks to get drawn into that conflict. On some level surely you’d know going to Russia in war time isn’t a smart thing to do.
Imagine how shithouse their diet must be to warrant the need for a poop knife 🤮 drink more clear fluids and up the fiber intake jeeze
There are plenty of other developers, new ones that were happy to work on integrations and apps for the fediverse. While sync is great, it’s like a giant Walmart moving into the area, displacing other viable alternatives.
Pretty happy with voyager, it’s a pretty solid choice despite being styled entirely for iOS. I’ll probably look into a more Android designed / focused app going forward.
They said it was just a suggestion, not a good one though 🤣
Keen to see how this one turns out. Maybe it’ll light the fire under people’s asses and we’ll get native types in JS finally
All for the greater good, especially if it’s the choice between one guy’s desire to nuke their own code VS tens / hundreds of thousands of projects that depend on it.
It’s still needed until the transition to full renewables is viable in most places. People still need to afford electricity so it’s a means to an end
Yeah but have you seen some people’s documentation? I get it’s not a glamorous task but I’ve seen some stinkers before (a heap of properties and methods just thrown on a page with barely any description and no reasonable samples)
Things take time, getting the momentum moving to another platform is always super hard to do
There’s next to no difference in regards to payroll processing on a week by week basis. Companies want to push this to a fortnight or month so it’s easier on their finances. There’s very little reason it couldn’t be paid weekly.
Yeah been noticing it can be pretty hit or miss, the vibe is pretty chill here but people still come out of the woodwork to dog-pile on people. The unverified allegations with LLT / Madison are a perfect example of that
A gut wrenching mistake, hopefully you’ll only make it once!
