Extremely common. I got into this unfortunate habit of hitting post and then editing typos afterward, and I think it increased the amount I do it by a lot.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•2 women who made my life unbearable at my last workplace now greet me like nothing happened. Has this happened to you before?
7·1 day agoThis is normal . They think that saying hello to people you know is being polite and that polite people still don’t treat the people they hate badly. It’s not just women. I had a prolonged issue with a male coworker involving that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which language is the hardest to train an ai on? so suppose we make a website out of that language, would the ai not understand anything?
14·2 days agoThe AI doesn’t understand anything in any language. It’s just putting words in order by their association.
standard American big weekly trip + a few small trips, like a single bunch of spinach or a single carton of oat milk. American products are portioned to be family sized, so you’ve got a few days worth when you buy something.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How high should Congress set the immigration quotas to?
2·2 days agoI haven’t done any research into this idea, but I was thinking it could be a fair compromise to have unrestricted state visas . As in, the visa is only valid to live and work in that state. This would allow each state to flexibly respond to the labor needs of its economy each year. Then federal citizenship can be a restricted process, and limit migration to states that can’t utilize the extra labor.
But yeah they’ll probably come up with a massively insufficient increase and pretend it’s progress.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there any limits to major class action lawsuits against the government?
3·2 days agoThere isn’t a limit to filing them. There are a TON of limits to winning them though.
I answered the question, “If you had to commit a misdemeanor in 60s, what would you do?” and then used another account.
First one got overturned by the mod, but then the account got banned for ban evasion. When I didn’t break the rule in the first place. /shrug

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think the internet will be like in a few years? Why?
3·3 days agoAs long as we can connect to the outside world, it can’t be catastrophically restricted. We’ll just be more like viewers of social advancements instead of participants.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•is it embarrassing to graduate college at 24?
5·3 days agoI graduated at 26. It’s now 4 years later, and I had to literally use a calculator to count how old I was. I say this to emphasize how little I care now, in contrast to how embarrassed I was at the time. I am now in law school at 30. Most of the people around me are 3-5 years younger, and it doesn’t matter at all. Nobody treats me differently or excludes me. Lots of people change careers all of the time. The needs of the economy change and you do your best. Most people aren’t privileged enough to be insulated from the state of the economy. Sometimes people are unemployed, or experiencing health crises, or helping their family. We all have our own issues and run our own race, and it’s better to make progress than be stagnant.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Most likely outcome of possible second American Civil WarEnglish
41·4 days agoThere cannot be a 2nd civil war. We have a nationalized military. States do not have their own armies and they are not trying to raise them. We have nuclear weapons all around the country. We are past the point where civil war is possible. At best, a single city might try to barricade itself off.

This is so culturally dependent on the town. People have things they like to do already, just make those things available to them in a pleasant space.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•online, what is the most unheard of country (prob by american standards) youve heard of someone being from?
131·6 days agoone time when I was talking about a video I saw about Moldova, someone commented “I rarely see people know about my country”. Moldova is on Ukraine’s southwestern border (so opposite of the Russian side). It’s mostly impoverished rural backwater, and its city is in decay from the soviet era.

5·7 days agoFeeling Good: The New Mood Therapy by Dr. David Burns. Look, if we can teach the kids chemical formulas, surely we can teach them the basics of emotional regulation? No?

Wow. There was just zero reason for him to say anything. Nobody is accusing Fortnite of being unsafe for kids. And he chose to say that. For himself.
