Nobody is going to talk about the number of children here? Nine kids? These guys are the ultra-rich, right? They can pop babies into this miserable world so easily? They can afford re-settling to a different country? I mean, people are so impoverished that they can’t afford having one kid in this shitty world.

Or maybe they’re just plain stupid?

Their god commanded them to have lots of kids. The idea crops up again and again in fundamentalist abrahamic movements. This world is bad but that doesn’t matter as it is just the doorstep before paradise.

It also helps to brainwash girls/women until they believe their only purpose is baby making for their husbands. It’s torture and abuse.

So Arend (and wife Anneesa) sold everything they had to move to sunny Russia and raise eight of their nine kids with “orthodox” values.

Jesus, imagine being the kid that got away.

Last I heard a lot of right wingers are perfectly okay to turn USA in a dictatorship as long as Trump would be the dictator. You can already hear the "but I thought he was going to protect us, not (many things possible here) "

My idiot barber because he read in some newspaper rag that “kids won’t be able to call their parents mom/dad” (my guess is that schools won’t use the the terms mom/dad in their correspondence to be more inclusive).

I wished him good luck and I hope he really likes AKs as he’s sent straight to the front as cannon fodder for little dear Putin.

He was obviously not entirely serious but was certainly swallowing some bullshit provoked outrage.

From my time lurking in r/AskARussian I remember quite a lot of these types, convinced that Russia was a paradise of freedom and conservatism, and that moving there would be a piece of cake. What’s horrible about this couple is that they’ve quite possibly fucked up their children’s lives, especially once they get to military age.

I honestly don’t think this applies here. This is a direct result of their own actions. No one forced them.

To me this is a case of: You reap what you sow.

It’s ok. Russian state is going to take them in, train them for a few years at an undisclosed location and then send them back to their original country where they can run for office or something.

Or they’ll get pulled off the street & mobilized, later being fed thru a meat grinder somewhere in eastern Ukraine.

It’d be a shame if someone deepfaked a video using their voice and facial data into a glowing testimonial of how great Russia is, with detailed steps about how other dutiful, god-fearing conservatives can get in on and take full advantage of the amazing opportunity for financial independence that awaits them in glorious Russia.

Russia, if you’re listening, this might be a good plan to get more fodder for the front lines in your “special military operation” in Ukraine. They think they’re good fighters too. Win bigly.

Lives in the US: this place sucks, we want it to be more like Russia.

Moves to Russia: this place sucks, it’s exactly what we wanted, but we aren’t in charge.

Moves back to US: let’s make this place more like Russia except people like us are in charge.

I mean, if they’re in Russia and speaking out about being unhappy to be there, how long before something really interesting happens on their channel? I would expect one of three things: they walk back their statement and say that they’re actually happy there, a worldstar shitshow video goes up, or silence. It kinda makes sense to pay attention to this to see what Russia’s response is.

If you read the article, you would have seen that this has already been explained.

The husband has made a video apologizing, and the video of his wife complaining has been deleted. It sounds like they have nothing, are totally broke, and the government is upset at them. They’re super fucked.

First, according to the family, the Russian bank where they moved the proceeds from selling their farm and belongings? It immediately froze their assets.

The parents (but not the kids) deserve it. They’re also doing a great job of showing their kids what extremist ideology gets you.
