If there is an iPhone 16 that can operate in Indonesia, that means that I can say, the device is illegal. Do report it to us.

From the article, it isn’t just banning the sale of iPhone 16, but also make iPhone sold to customer non operational. I don’t know how they manage to do it, but that is ridiculous. Customer shouldn’t be punished because Apple didn’t fulfill it’s commitment.

I could not find such a claim in the article. The only technical information is about issuing IMEIs, the rest is about legality. Where did they say they can and do brick iPhones?

They didn’t, yet I don’t think wrong to infer iPhone 16 aren’t operable when they specifically say an operating iPhone is illegal.

Yes, it is a bad infer. I appoligize.

Wouldn’t do that much harm to Apple. All it would do is break people’s devices without their consent. Not to mention all that e-waste.

Australia banned half a million active devices from their mobile networks today. It must be a new trend.

There is no mention of anyone breaking phones. Where the hell is this claim coming from?

This ban covers both the sale and operation of iPhone 16 models and extends to units already sold.

          They’re getting it from there.
